The popularity of digital ink has increased the demand for rare books, ephemera, and works on paper.  Antiquarian book fairs represent vibrant curated marketplaces where such items are found in abundance in all price points presented by a select group of dealers. 

2020 brought with it an entirely new challenge to the world of rare book fairs. The pandemic abruptly stopped live book fairs in their tracks. As producers of top book fairs in the northeast U.S., we took that as a challenge. This pandemic was not about to stop the momentum we had built up among book dealers, collectors and institutions. We developed what is seen as the gold standard in virtual book fair platforms. Getman’s Virtual Book and Paper Fair have taken place monthly since the pandemic began.

In January 2026, Getman’s Virtual Book Fairs became First Thursday Book and Paper Marketplace a monthly virtual marketplace where, on the first Thursday of each month, lovers of rare and vintage books meet virtually with sellers from around the country and the world. On the first Thursday of each month rare book and collectible paper lovers enter the online marketplace to browse the virtual booths , one by one or, using the robust search engine, search for a category or keyword for subjects of interest.
